My Trial By Erosion Of Words

The Phoenix Coyotes

Let’s be honest, there shouldn’t be a hockey team in Phoenix. I know all eight of you ‘Yotes fans out there are going to yell at me, but stop kidding yourselves.

The team can’t sustain itself financially.

Attendance is dismal. No fans in the arena (with the exception of the playoffs) means very little revenue coming in through tickets, concessions, on-site merchandise sales, parking, etc.

That arena is in such an awful location that even the Suns wanted to stay in US Airways Center which isn’t exactly the nicest arena.

On the Jobing.com Arena note- good luck to the City of Glendale in paying that one off without a tenant.

I’d like the Coyotes to succeed. As a hockey fan from the Southeastern part of the country which has seemingly misplaced hockey teams scattered around, I like to see teams in what could be described as “non-hockey markets” succeed.

Unfortunately the Coyotes more than likely aren’t going to be able to.
